Question about scents in general

I know essential oils can be toxic to dogs. Obviously putting them on the dog or allowing the dog to lick where you have put them on yourself is a no. I've also read that diffusers with essential oils are bad, especially the ones that are also like humidifiers. But what about the kind that just warm a paper pad with some oil on it? Room sprays? Scented candles? Stick diffusers? Is there a site you can recommend that has a comprehensive list of all scents to avoid? Thanks for your time!
