My cats fought real bad and now one is limping. I took him to the vet an basically she said he needs a hip replacement or a FOH.
Here's more context. While I was out at work my roommate mentioned to me that my cat was limping really bad she said that he and the other cat got into a serious fight but he did not fall from anywhere. He was limbing for a couple of days and seems like he was slowly progressing and getting better cuz I assumed it was a soft tissue injury.
Still around the fourth day I took him into the vet real quick little hole in the wall other veterinarian office. They did some x-rays and I mentioned how I believe it was his foot that was messed up because if I touched his foot embedded his foot he would get upset and it was obviously swollen.
In the x-ray she started telling me over and over again how he might have hip dysplasia and asked in regards to how old he was in general questions in regards to how long any of this has been happening because of the fact that she believed it's been like that for a minute versus it just being like that for a few days.
She went from saying that it's hip dysplasia to saying that it's fully fractured and that he needs to get surgery to fix it and there's no way to heal it no way of giving him a splint or a brace or anything that he has to get surgery.
The only issue with that is the factor that one if it is needed to get surgery I don't have 3,000 to potentially 10 grand to fix the issue and I don't really know what to do in regards to that. I can try to apply for credit but even then they're probably going to only going to approve me for barely $1,000. I don't want my cat to be put down because I think that would be stupid to put a cat down over a slightly broken leg.
ultimately if I have to I'll get it amputated but I don't think I need to.. yet I'm not a vet. So I'm asking you guys the vets on this website if they see anything and what your guys's opinions are because I already have them scheduled to go to another vet a week or so from now and he's currently on medication and he's high as a kite at the moment.
He's a short hair domestic an he's male fixed and he's 2
