Hi all,

I have two cats, and they are brothers (littermates). They're about 11 or 12. One of them is sick and, despite treatment, may need to be put down soon.

Should I have him put down and immediately cremated, or should I bring his body home so that his brother understands that he's gone? I'm not sure how cats process these things. I'm scared that if I just leave for the vet with the sick one, and he never returns, his brother will think he's disappeared, but not necessarily dead, and yowl for him worse than if he understood that his brother died.
