Verizon Fios Wifi 6 Router

So I just found out that Verizon offers a new router for FiOS customers that is capable of WiFi 6. Price is $299.99 to buy/$15 a month to rent. I was thinking of upgrading from the Gateway router they provided years ago.

My understanding though is that I wouldnt be able to take advantage of WiFi 6 speeds from the WiFi 6 router unless my devices support WiFi 6 as well. Is this correct? I’m assuming there would be no benefits to moving up from the Gateway router yet, as the only device that would benefit from WiFi 6 is probably my iPhone 11.
