Asked odd questions during a prepaid plan purchase?

Post Body

My current prepaid phone service called PagePlus decided to kill my 29.99 unlimited (actually unlimited, not a gimmick plan) that I've had with them ever since the iPhone 5C when I upgraded my SIM card for my 13 Pro some time a few months ago, and my data has essentially refused to work since even after several consecutive 1 hour phone calls with tech support, so I decided to drop them and look for a new plan.

I live in the southeastern united states and have been jumping back and fourth between phone prepaid plans. Since Cspire and AT&T don't have any coverage in my rural area where I live, I decided to give Verizon a try and have been pretty happy with the coverage for the past month. Its great, and I get 1-2 bars where most other companies' towers won't even pick up!

Here's my odd question though: the girl at the counter when I was trying to tell her that I wanted the $45 a month plan was asking me where I worked, what my credit limit is, and other stuff that had nothing to do with the purchase I was trying to make. She also took forever to find a new SIM as I didn't want to keep my last phone number. Is this normal info to need? I get that they need my drivers license, but neither of the other two companies wanted to know this much info. She made it seem like it was relatively important information to the setup.
