So im sorry if this ends up being long but i need to get this off my chest and hopefully relieve some stress. My roommate has been my best friend for over a decade. Weve been rooming for about 4 years now(although we've roomed in the past ). For a while its been good but recently ive noticed that he hasnt been straight when it comes to his "tall tales". For the longest time hes always said that he was a Marine. Hes said that since he was 18. Now since day one ive doubted this since i remember him specifically telling me about some heart condition he has (i know that parts true). Hes also claims that he was a member of "Black Water" and he was the " hound of hades". Other things he claims is how he has a house on 32 acres of land(that ive never seen) a daughter(who've ive never met but hes shown pictures of which im not sure are real) and now a wife , even though hes still legally married to his ex. Hes also claimed to either be descended of famous figures like vlad the impaler or some kind of viking(he also claimed his ancestor wrote the wellerman pirate shanty) or that hes had ancestors that have had run ins with. Historical figures like how he claims an ancestor arrested blackbeard the pirate and that he wasnt really killed. His proof? "They found journals mentioning my ancestor in the trials". Speaking of proof he always claims that he knows a lot about certain things and subjects and how i need to "do my research". He also claims he has like 3 bachelors degrees even though i know he only has one in culinary. He can cook ill give him that. If those werent enough its also how he treats me. To name a few examples ive been trying to lose weight and although ive come a long way i still have a bit to go and even have a trainer but he swears im not doing something right and that "only weaklings and pussies have trainers." He didnt say that to me but was on the phone on the balcony by my window. In fact there are times i know hes talked about me on the phone. He also criticises my cooking and yes i may not be the best cook but he rarely eats my food and says i should learn to make " actual meals amd not this high school lunch crap". I know how to season and everything but i dont know how to make "extravagant meals". If i like somethinf he does he says only men with fragile masculinity like those things (he even says the same thing about my beard). If i like something he does he says im trying to copy him. The worse thing of all though is his political beliefs. Now dont get me wrong i absolutely do not care about peoples politics or who they vote for. That is your right 100% and im sorry if this part might upset some people. His beliefs however go more to the "extreme " side. For example: hes said to my face that "if it were up to me id round up every biden voter and charge them with treason and put them down". And no i know there are people that dont like our current president but im not judging all of them based on what he said. Hell even make up stories about whats going on in the political world. Last night we got into a talk and it got heated. It got so bad that he literally told me to "go in your room right now before i rip your throat out". I just said no and walked outside and drove to the store. Ill givr him credit though he did apologize after that and said he overreacted. Later i heard him on the phone with his cousin and i heard this " hello. Hey cuz. No it's good we talked it out man to man. Well im a man. I dont know what the he is. A gremlin?". I havent been able to get over it. Ive never been this mad. My only saving grace is im movinf in 2 weeks. He was like my brother but he just seems like a different person. Although looking back i realize he has moslty been like this. He literally thinks he the "epitome" of what a real man is. Sorry for rambling and the spelling mistakes. On mobile. I feel a bit better
