Hi!
I'm a lifelong lacto-ovo vegetarian (not vegan but for the purposes of this post, any fake oyster sauce would likely be vegan anyway). No ethics please! I am well-versed in all the arguments and I respect everyone's point of view already.
Anyway, it's so hard to find a good non-animal-containing oyster-flavored sauce! Wegmans used to have one but they got rid of it. I have looked on Amazon but I don't fully trust the reviews on there as many of them are fake or incentivized. Soy sauce by itself just doesn't pack the same flavor punch for Asian dishes.
Does anyone do a lot of vegan or vegetarian Asian cooking? Maybe you have firsthand experience with a good sauce?
