so I have spent years trying to compile lists of heirloom vegetable varieties that will grow well in my area, taking into consideration soil type, climate, etc. It always end up badly. hasn't anyone ever come up with some at least semi complete list or app or something that can give you at general list of what varieties might work for you? does it already exist? am I just too dumb to find it?
edit: hi guys, just to clarify instead of addressing each comment individually. I grow my gardens just fine and I'm not having any trouble with specific varieties, etc. I realize now that the way I chose to word my post leans that way, but it wasn't my intention. this is a purely philosophical question asking why hasn't anyone done it. I also recognize the emense variety of plant cultivars and that a complete list, diagram, map, etc is impossible. so in an effort to clarify my question I would like to rephrase it.
why hasn't anyone taken our all of the easily accessible information out their and compiled it into a singular platform or medium that takes more variables into account at one time than what's available to us currently. yes, broad sweeping generalities will be made and exceptions will exist but I think that it could be done in a more efficient way than what's currently available considering the capabilities of current technology.
