overtime pay
Post Body

So I was looking up nevada state laws and from what I can tell if I work more that 8 hours in one day and I make less that minimum wage times 1.5 (I make 14 the current minimum wage is 9.75 so times 1.5 would be 14.63) then I should be eligible for overtime if I work a 12 hour shift correct? HR does not agree and I am just trying to figure out if I'm right or not.

Edit: Thanks for everyone's input. I think I have a better understanding of the labor laws around this topic now. There is a chance that I qualify so I am going to talk to them again before my shift Sunday just to get further clarification. Thanks again!

Edit 2: Here's the update. So HR originally said daily OT wasn't a thing. After I collected all information and spoke with the labor commissioner my HR person said they'd have to "digest" the information. Long story short, I am getting my OT for the 12 hour days I am scheduled. But to prevent me from getting unapproved OT all my shifts have been reduced by an hour. Jokes on them I love early outs. Thanks again for all the help/links everyone here provided.
