I came across a snake in the street today. I stopped and moved it off the road. It was not aggressive and posed no threat to anyone.
I identified it as a Corn Snake because of its behavior. It was not aggressive and really just wanted to get away from me.
Upon viewing the snakes native to the valley, I do believe it was actually a Desert Night Snake. Both of which are not a problem for humans.
Getting bit will hurt but that's pretty much it if you keep the bite area clean and sanitized. They don't want to hurt you. They want to eat mice for the most part. That's it. You can thank them.
Luckily, I have had a hobby of learning about snakes and knew it was harmless so I wasn't afraid of it.
They can look similar to a Rattle Snake but their behavior is a lot different when coming into contact with them.
Rattle Snakes are the only ones in the valley that pose a big threat. They will be aggressive and coil their body when they feel like they are in danger. Also the rattle is a really obvious way to tell it is a snake to stay away from.
The rest of the snakes in the area are really not going to cause you any problems. They are pest control. You want them around. If they bite you, it's because you scared them or got too close. Just leave them alone or call animal control.
Do not hurt any of the snakes. They deserve to be alive the same as you do.
