Road Construction Without clear signs
Post Body

Hello,

Why does it seem like I15 constructions are a bit strangely and erratically managed in terms of keeping driver safety in mind while performing engineering works, as far as signages (for driver safety) are concerned.

  1. 36°03'53.3"N 115°10'45.5"W I15 northbound to I215 westbound near HiddenWell, suddenly two lanes become one lane at a curve (that is, drivers from northbond I15 have to switch right to the feeder lane from HiddenWell), drivers have like 2 seconds to respond if driving at highspeed, it is on a curve with limited lookahead visibility; what if both lanes have vehicles incoming at high speed and need to make a split second merge decision. No advanced signage indicating lane merge. Ironically, the merger junction is safe during rush hours as too many cars stream into this bottleneck and there is a long waiting queue; But during night and earning morning this junction could be quite dangerous, as the speed can be quite high in the absence of car queues. There has to be regulations mandating how many seconds in advance a lane closure has to be notified to drivers, especially at highspeed in a high volume interstate exchange, unprofessional to see a random construction vehicle shutting down a lane at a steep curve without forewarning. This seems like a persistent and pervasive issue at many road construction locations in metro vegas.
  2. I-215 Westbound near I-15 interchange near W Martin Ave, the Westbound I215 lane markers are very unclear, the old lane markers are almost as visible (under sun reflections) as the new ones, drivers may be confused as to where exactly the lanes are. By the way the construction had been going on for a long time. In addition, prior to this junction, to the east of I15, there is also a very sharp lane shift on 215 but thankfully there are signages warning 'stay in lane'
  3. Is there a centralized state agency mailbox for Nevada Department of Transportation to make complaints with "improvements in road designs" and regarding road constructions? The DOT should take community feedback on unsafe locations and potential design improvements .
