I wanted to share something that's been weighing on me for a while. My neighbor has four dogs that he leaves outside in the heat almost every day. They are confined to a small, filthy arena on the side of his house where they eat, poop, and spend all their time. The smell of their waste is so bad it seeps into our backyard, making it nearly impossible to enjoy our outdoor space.
The dogs look like they haven't been groomed in ages—their fur is matted and dirty, and they always seem so miserable. I couldn't stand seeing them suffer any longer, so I decided to call animal control.
They came out the next day and did an inspection. A few days later, my brother-in-law mentioned that my neighbor had complained to him about the visit. He got multiple fines and was grumbling about how he's already broke from paying child support. He tried to paint himself as a victim, but honestly, I have no sympathy for him.
Thinking back, I don't feel bad at all for making the call. Those poor dogs deserved better, and I hope they're in a better situation now. I haven't heard or seen them outside since animal control came.
What do you all think? Did I do the right thing? Have any of you been in a similar situation?
