Hey everyone,
Last week, as we all know, we had a torrential downpour. Unfortunately, my apartment wasn't spared, and I've been dealing with a major leak issue. The management office's response so far has been less than stellar – they came, took pictures, and told me to place buckets. The next day, they brought in a humidifier and blower, saying they'd pick them up on Tuesday. They picked it up on Wednesday with no updates on what’s to come. It's now Friday, and they've put the noisy machines back in again, without any communication about what's going to happen next except for to never turn these off. Understandable but…
Here's where it gets frustrating. Both the humidifier and blower are ridiculously loud, making it impossible to concentrate in my main (small!) living area. I work from home, so you can imagine what a nightmare this has been. Plus, they're cranking up the heat in my place! My house looks like a disaster zone with all my furniture piled up.
I've got two burning questions:
Do I have any rights to make them pay for the skyrocketing electric bill caused by these machines? We all know nve and it’s no doubt going to hike.
Is there any way to push them to cover temporary accommodation costs or adjust my rent for all this inconvenience?
I do have renters' insurance, but I'm not sure when it makes sense to use it or if I can use it for this situation.
Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated
