With the entire west receiving record rain and snow fall, Lake Mead seems to be failing to benefit from any of this increased precipitation. With Utah and Nevada prepped to be removed this month from the drought map, it is wild that the lake has not shown any real signs of recovery. While the complex water usage laws are convoluted at best, it is clear that California is refusing to play ball in regards to conservation.
I understand that California produces a large amount of produce and has a large population that must be supported, but the state, along with every state around has received large amounts of water this winter, yet the drain on lake mead continues.
Is it really that far fetched that California is intentionally trying to drain lake mead of it resources? Obviously this is an extreme accusation, but their in willingness to reduce usage despite drought conditions is truly alarming. For a state that prides itself on its green initiatives and progressivism, their continued over usage of the Colorado river is abuse of natural resources.
