Liberation pledge breaking

I've been considering taking the liberation pledge. I've read some of the criticisms of it, and I still strongly feel that it's the right thing to do. At the same time, I value spending time with my family, particularly on Christmas. My mum is open to eating vegan food, but my dad is very childish and refuses to even try vegetarian food. At the end of the day, the animals matter more to me than a meal, but I was wondering if it would make sense to make an exception once a year for Christmas.
