Fragile Anti-Cannibalism
Post Body

I've noticed recently on this sub some posts which rubbed me the wrong way and I wanted to start a dialogue as I know this will be a mildly controversial take. To give a few examples, I saw a post where someone was complaining that they saw a dead baby on the floor in the tofu isle, and another where someone recalled feeling 'physically and emotionally awful' after someone put its blood in their coffee.

My question is are these really the struggles we need to be devoting our time to and are these really struggles at all? Ok, the drinking blood thing is annoying we've all been there I'm sure but does it warrant such a dramatic reaction? Surely trying your best to look away from the dead baby is all you can demand of yourself. And instead of whining about having to look at a mangled corpse a few seconds, be happy that not only are beans so readily available for you but that they are in the dead baby isle as an alternative, not some different, alien thing just for anti-cannibals.

In my opinion these kind of posts reek of privilege. It puts me in mind, fairly or unfairly, of people who have very few real problems and there for need to make their own.

I understand these things (dead babies) are mild irritations but this kind of pettiness makes anti-cannibalism so unattractive and surely that is the last thing you want. There are so many burning problems that we absolutely have to start talking about concerning the relationship between humans and food humans and of course not all of them have to be life and death but does the relationship between humans and food humans really need to be part of the conversation?

I'd be interested to see what you think.
