How could I have handled this discussion differently?

Hey everyone,
So I just had a discussion with some people I know about veganism and why consuming and using animal products is bad for the animals and for your own health.
However, at some point I got a lot of backlash and I was wondering if I took this into the right direction.
I would love to hear what you guys think and any suggestions you might have for me in the future.
