The time is right to recommend a documentary for my parents to watch. But it needs to come from a health perspective, anything that relates to animals rights won't work on them yet. It's ok if it has 1 or 2 brief scenes about animal welfare, but it needs to be majority health related.
They switched to non dairy and no red or processed meats for about 90% of the time. My dad got diagnosed with mild heart disease, put on meds, but decided himself to make the dietary change. He's lost over a stone (although wasn't really overweight to start with) and is feeling great for it, so now is the time I think to strike!
Unfortunately, he still thinks fur is a wonder product because its "more sustainable than plastic" and generally is not yet responsive to animal welfare issues. So that needs to come later.
