Hey guys. I picked up a can of hearts of palm for dinner tonight and I started thinking on the way home... does anyone know if hearts of palm production is as detrimental to the environment as palm oil? It's hard to find a straight answer online as to how it's produced, whether it's the same species as the oil palm, etc... it looks like it can be either cultivated or wild-harvested, but that seems like it might come with its own set of issues!
I try to avoid palm oil where I can, and I know many on here do as well, so I figured it might be worth discussing.
