We have some rescue hens and obviously they are still producing eggs. We've been giving most of them back to the hens by slightly cracking them and letting them eat them. I didn't want to just leave them in the nest because I don't want them to try and incubate them as I figure it might stress them out more when nothing happens.
So, looking at the bigger picture, is there a case for me giving some (not all) of the eggs to my mother in law who would otherwise go out and buy the cheapest, worst, caged hen eggs?
I can't convince her not to but eggs at all, we've tried but it just isn't happening. She's the type that thinks we should provide meat and dairy if we have guests because the guests shouldn't be expected to eat vegan food if we're not expected to eat meat and dairy eyeroll
Obviously taking eggs from our hens isn't ethical, but would it be ok if it stops the purchase of caged hen eggs?
