Suggestions wanted: Local VectorDB without langchain

Im using ChromaDB python package currently and I don't use langchain.
The limited documentation is really tough for me to work through and I feel as though I'm missing out on easier to use, more intuitive, or more feature rich vector database solutions that I can run on my local PC without docker.
Pls help 🤗
