anyone compared the old shiny one to the new matte color one? i think they implemented cost cutting changes but they’re not really noticeable unless you’ve used both versions.

i think the matte ones are lighter weight, aren’t machined as tightly. and this will sound crazy but they have a cheap sound when you screw and unscrew them. i measured the wall width of the new ones at 1mm and the old ones at 1.25mm. it doesn’t sound like a lot but it’s a 25% reduction.

i reached out to herb ripper and they didn’t respond but there’s gotta be someone out there who noticed and knows what i’m talking about. it may not even be straight cost cutting but just a way to get it down to a more manageable weight
