I've been using my firewood for about a month as my primary vape. This is the second firewood vape I've owned. My firewood 4 broke earlier this year. Before that I had used it as my primary "out and about" vape.
This vape is not that. The 4 was Marc's last vape that was not a "true" on demand vape. This is the vapes biggest strength. In comparison to the Stempod (the only other "true" on demand vape I've owned) I experience a vast improvement in the consistenty of each hit. The FW7 has a hybrd heater much like many of the hardest hitting vapes on the market.
I purchased a WPA with my unit, and I think this accessory is a must. Through water this thing is easy. On demand milky rips, that come out comfortable and satisfying. Hitting the vape is very intuitive, you just press a button wait for it to buzz and then inhale.Â
Changing presents and temps can be challenging as the vape doesn't always register every click. The temperature settings are an estimate and your draw has much more to do with the temperature of the vapor. I could not get good vapor at any temperature under 370. At 410 it is noticeably charred, and at 430 it will combust.
I personally have set my first temperature setting to 390 and leave it there for the entire bowl. This has negated most issues. I routinely 10-12 hits through my water piece. The AVB comes out a consistent brown (similar to the mighty)
I am only getting 3 bowls per battery on this unit. This runs on 18650s and if you have more than 2 batteries this won't be an issue for you.
My biggest gripe with this unit is that I cannot use it with the standard mouthpiece. It is not comfortable. I used to hit the FW4 without a cooling unit and it was considerably more comfortable than this unit dry. This has limited this vape to staying at home.
This vape is not a pocketable vape. This vape reminds me of a modernized version of the MFLB. It's a vape you can sit on while you're doing something else (playing video games, music, etc). While it's usually not the first vape I reach for in a session, it's something that's nice to have packed for an extra oomph when wanted. It was a difficult learning process, but once I got this vape keyed in I really started loving the experience.
