I thought I'd add a few notes about Coal Beach.
1) Comox Lake is a pretty popular spot in the summer for boating and cooling off. Coal Beach is pretty open to the lake, so it's likely paddlers and other boaters may "drive by."
2) My first time there when I wasn't alone, I was one of about 3 people who chose to go nude whereas about 4-6 other people didn't. Still not totally convinced this is a legit clothing-optional area, and not just a spot where people feel comfy being naked (whereas the Brown's River has "Nude Zone" written on rocks and trees warning people).
3) As it's right on the edge of the forest and there's lots of driftwood on the beach, expect lots of little bugs lile ants, spiders and other little crawlies.
