Post Body

As I can't figure out how to make a text-and-image post, and the image posts only allow 150-character captions to accompany 20 images, I thought it best to give some added details to the pictorial directions showing the two ways I know to get to the same spot.

Getting to the spot via route #1 involves a longer walk over flatter, straighter, terrain, though much of it is open to direct sunlight (depending on the clouds 😆) as you are walking along a service road under large powerline supports, making up about 1/2 the travel time. The third 1/4 offers a descent to the river that is much longer and more gradual, with only a very short (6-8 foot) drop to climb down with some natural footholds and handholds. The final 1/4 is, at most, about 5 minutes of walking up-stream on the river bed which can be a challenge with the heavier current against you in the late-spring/early-summer and slippery in the late-summer from the algae that's formed on the rocks during the summer thanks to the slower current and lowering water levels.

If you follow route #2, you'll find the bulk of the first 3/4 of the walk to be mostly in partial shade under the trees as you walk along a path in the woods. While it's really pretty, the path does have lots of pothole-like dips, twists, turns and roots to watching your footing on. There are also several dips and rises along the way. The last 1/4 of the walk can be broken into a half (so 1/8th total trip) that involves a long, rather steep decline, but only a quick jaunt down stream. There are generally ropes available to help climb up and down along the path, though they're put there by fellow bathers, so user beware. Sadly, there are some bathers who have come in hopes of enjoying the space only to find the main rope removed.

TL;DR: Route #1 has more direct sunlight with a predominantly gentler descent to the river and a longer walk up-stream. Route #2 is a bit quicker, more shaded and picturesque, but does have a more challenging descent to the river that has the potential to be dangerous if the main rope is gone.

Those are the important parts. If you're still reading, I'll add that users of the space presume the main rope along route 2 keeps getting removed by, shall I say, "prudes" who know of the spot and want to try to stop its use. While it could be the RCMP or other official agency removing it, there's an expectation that. The RCMP pr other such an agency would leave a note saying something along the lines of "The rope has been removed as the use of this area for clothing-optional sunbathing is not allowed. Please refrain from using this space as such." That, and, cutting/removing the main rope requires the least effort on their part to limit our access to the spot which makes it seem more like disgruntled neighbours than fun-quashing government types.

In terms of conduct there, while I was once propositioned while I was there, everyone I've seen there either keep to themselves or share a picnic and conversation with those they came with. I have heard tell of sexy stuff happening in the open, but I haven't seen it myself. If you're open to it, but feeling like you want to be a bit more cautious, there's a big log with lots of space to hide behind in the main area on the left side (if looking downstream).

Lastly, sometime between mid-Sept '21 and mid-May '22, someone added the NUDE ZONE marker to the "Naked Tree" I show along route #2. This could indicate that the rest of the path is clothing-optional, or it could be an early warning that the river spot at the end of the trail is clothing-optional. As I have yet to see others walk that area nude, I cannot confirm which scenario is going on. Considering the number of clothing-required trails in the area, I think it's fair to claim this one small section as clothing-optional for those who want to "hike" in the buff. I think I'll probably walk that stretch nude, though I'll probably curtail the habit if I see I'm the only one doing so.
