Why are 1bdrms in Mapleridge, Surrey, Langley 2k+?

Genuinely confused. The surrey central area was always seen as "bad" growing up and mapleridge/langley are very far from Vancouver. I dont understand how they can now be 2k for a 1 bedroom?
