How much does insulation help dissipate heat during the day?

Post Body

Iโ€™m a full time car dweller thinking about switching over to a cargo van. Iโ€™m in a hybrid with climate control and can pretty much stay comfortable inside during the day with minimal gas usage. Other than opening the doors and venting through a roof vent, I imagine the temperature inside a van can heat up quickly. Is this the case or does insulation help keep the heat down? Or is it just not feasible to stay inside a van during the day because of heat?
