I'm a delivery driver for Amazon. Our vehicles are in no way equipped for snow. We all have been getting out vans stuck in the snow and ice in Portland at least once everyday and the roads there are better than in Vancouver. The few people in my contractor company that are given routes in Vancouver and Camas only deliver 1 package to make the attempt. For safety reasons of course. Contractor company gets paid for the attempt.
I have good snow tires and a pickup truck. But the fact that I slipped and fell the moment I stepped outside is more than enough to tell me to stay home. Our corporate overlords can survive a day or two without you 😏😘
Also DPD2 dudes sup. Screw the warehouse for delaying twice and somehow thinking it will be safe to work at 11am 🤦♂️
Weather reports say it's not supposed to start improving until 11am.
Edit: The Amazon [contractor] station that serves Vancouver just cancelled on the contractor companies. Had someone message me saying they didn't have the labor to process everything. Thinking an extra $5 a hour would get warehouse workers in.
