How do walk-in clinics work?

Post Body

I still don't understand how they work. Or, rather, I may, but I am in disbelief.

Suppose I want to see a doctor today or tomorrow. I am not dying, but I am worried. To be honest, its probably nothing major. What do I know though? they are the experts, they would know if my problem may have an underlying serious issue or not.

  1. So, what are my options to get checked? Do I book an appointment somewhere? I tried with a couple of places, they have availability in 3 weeks. These are, what I found on google maps, as "Medical clinics / walk in clinics".
  2. What is a walk-in clinic? it sounds as if I just walk and get treated. But, whenever I call one, they say I need to make an appointment.

Also, no, I do not have a family doctor. Do I need one? would they have more availability? how do I get one?

Thanks!
