I donât know what to do anymore. Since August 14th, a couple roommates and I were made aware of wrongful charges made to our Northside acc after moving out. I called and was told that unless any proof made when first moved in, nothing can be done. Our collective total was probably ~$900 , with mine being somehow the highest at almost $400 when according to my statement I was charge â1/4âth of the claim. After a couple days, I was told by residence office we needed the previous tenant (will be referred as OT) to fess up if it were true they caused those damages. Once OT called, I began calling the 18th with no one ever answering. Called almost every day and emailed once. During this period, I became overwhelmed and had to go to the ER due to an overstimulation from stress after an EKG proved all I need was stress management or else next panic attack could be worse. I couldnât keep calm cause even though the charges were posted on August 13th, the email received the 14th said it was past due and will be sent to collections by September 14th. Between Northside and a couple small things, Iâve been at the brink of tears with no ability to sleep in hopes of hearing from them. On the 25th, one of my roommates from room B went in person to talk with the office and told us they immediately dropped all charges against her. Us (room A) feel extremely discriminated against considering we are of a minority ethnicity when the roommate B who went to the office isnât. No hate to my roommate at all, but extreme offense taken that my roommate from room A had gone on not too long before and was told that if they needed help then to email.
Last week Tuesday, I decided to call the leasing office. From the very first day we began this exchange with res. office, I was told leasing office wasnât the place to call, but the moment I made that call I FINALLY had an ANSWER at what to do next. They told me there was no proof because âanyone can callâ (which I understand but then why did your other office make me run circles there) so OT had to email. On Thursday, OT emailed and I immediately followed up with res. office. Once they picked up, I explained the situation and asked what was the next step to which I was told they couldnât give me âprivate informationâ over the situation which makes NO SENSE since we are being charged? I then had to email them myself. I followed that with what was the turn around time for them to email back and told by the end of Friday Iâll be told something.
Today, Sept. 6th 1:27am, I am understanding if they were closed for Labor Day but why do I yet have to hear from them? What is it with the lies and circles? What did my previous roommate give to get their charges dropped?
I donât know what to do anymore, I canât deal with it anymore. I just want to have one decent night of rest without worrying that Northside will purposely continue to make our situation worse when theyâre the reason OT had to move out in the first place.
Sincerely, One extremely stressed and sleep deprived previous tenant
