Ok, SO, Back to the Future... Time was Transcendent... Books... interdependent

Salt Lake City County Building has a Clock that's tall, and the building was struck by lightning AND right next door is the library. This makes a LOT of sense as a starting point. The mark... well, all I could think of was the Mark on the U Block. Perhaps it could mean some other logo mark, but that's where I am not sure, BUT, the Grain Tower, headed towards the mark, could be Rice Ecceles Stadium... Grain Tower Facing West.

If you can get to the mountains here in a fashion that makes sense... i.e, the 'Mark' (Maybe U Block) where you see a 'standing tree without bark' (either a large 5G tower or an Alder tree perhaps?) along the way, then I think you are close since going East is going uphill and fulfills the 'Hike to the standing tree..." clue.
