WHY WOULD USPS UPDATE US IF YOU CAN’T PICK IT UP

What is the point of tracking numbers and all these steps if I can’t pick up the package!?! Just let me know when it’s going to be delivered. I hope the government switches to UPS who have more friendlier workers and customer service
