IF you could create the perfect provider what would it look like?
For a long time we have discussed backbones, parent companies, providers, indexers, etc. and we always seem to like some parts but not all. OR we love one for a short time and then it falls a bit out of favor due to a move, even a reasonable one (Newsgroup Ninja for example - I mean you can't blame the guy, Omnicron probably made him a heck of a deal).
So what does the perfect provider look like?
- Geographically (let's assume no holds barred)
- Speed
- Retention (assuming what is available)
- Cost (let's assume it's not free)
- ETC
No, I'm not trying to turn on yet another business, but it's more of a curiosity than anything else. Given an unlimited set of circumstances is there a perfect solution or a legitimate facsimile? OR is there not a perfect provider possible?
EDIT: Thanks for the fun discussion everyone. FWIW, if I ever get a boatload of money I'll create a new backbone in San Marino (with dist points in HK, US and Antartica) at 1GB for $6 a month. Lol. Oh, and one more point on the moon jsut because.
