Questions about ET rate

Just got my swear in and ship out date, August 12 and November 16. ET is the rate I am most interested in.
I'd like to chat with ETs to get an idea for work load/routine and variety of work. Difference between shore and ship duty, routine wise.
Also, I'm 27 and will be married when I go to basic. I would like to skip nonrate and get garunteed A-school. Any thoughts on skipping non-rate would be appreciated.
