Best advice for being a non-rate at a base
Post Body

As the title states, I am a non-rate at a decent sized base. Not a bad gig but I did get put in the facilities department. I plan on waiting out my time here until A school, which will likely be at least 24 months. My question is what would be some realistic expectations to have as far as training/qualification in relation to my desired rate be (ME)? I plan on talking with my command about this as well this week, but any insight would be appreciated so I don't sound like a total jackass when I start asking.

Side note: I plan on busting my ass and doing the job well so when opportunities do come up to volunteer I am already on the radar.
