Food (especially spices) and cleaning supplies — OK to take to the US via land border? And how detailed do you have to be with the list of items you are moving?
Post Body

Well, I have like a 5kg bag of whole wheat flour, another of rice, tons of spices that I use to cook South Asian food, some cleaning supplies like lysol, antibacterial sprays etc.

Are we allowed to take these items to the US if they are opened? Or would I be safer if I just left them here and bought everything new?

And how detailed do I need to be with the list of items I am carrying? Do I have to count every pen I am taking? Because that would be a lot of pens, I have like 4-5 boxes and more of pens and other stationery that I have hoarded over the years and would love to take with me. Do I need to count every pen, and every marker etc? Plus should the list contain the estimated value of these items?

Thanks folks
