Rural Fantasy
Post Body

So the series I am working on has many of the standard attributes of Urban Fantasy, but is set in a very rural environment primarily (backwoods and small town Alabama). My main character is a sort of poorly trained, deep south, white trash wizard who fuels his magic with drug use. This allows him to level the playing field a bit with the supernatural creatures he ends up encountering.

I realize of course that the drug use is likely to be a turn off to some readers (as will be his potty mouth). But what are peoples thoughts on the rural setting? Does that scare off readers of Urban Fantasy? Or do most people not care? Can folks point me in the direction of some good 'rural' fantasy for me to read?
