Speeding in rural NYS “Failure to Obey Traffic Control Device”

Was going 58 on a 35 zone accidentally! I’m new to the area. I saw the fine was around 240$USD on average with two points knocked off. If I plea NOT GUILTY through mail are there good chances (not asking for guarantee) that they will reduce it and just fine me without knocking the points?
Also would I still have to appear in court? (it’s 3 hours out from where I live)
