'Aftermath', as I call it, is a hardcore game mode which I hope will fix some of the game's major complaints of it not being survival friendly without having to do a lot.
Lore:
Aftermath is basically a few years after the Scorpion 7 incident and PEI, Washington, Russia And Hawaii were infected and crumbled. The remnants of the Coalition eventually fell due to infighting, lack of resources and various other factors.
Gameplay:
All of Aftermath's loot spawn chances will be severely reduced. This solves several concerns that Unturned has always had, and that's an abundance of ammo, too many guns and therefore KoSing without consequences. By limiting ammo, making guns incredibly rare to find and therefore preventing players from hoarding all of them, I would hope this encourages bullet conservation, which in turn might allow players to work together instead of shooting each other on site.
The lack of food spawns encourages gardening which is the same as before, but you need to water your plants every day and expose them to sunlight (nothing over their heads except the sky). Otherwise they will die and you won't even get the seed back. Combined with an overall scarcity of water, this makes trading with other players almost necessary, again encouraging teamwork.
Acquiring water isn't too difficult however. You can still use canteens on water like rivers, however you will need to properly filter the water before it is deemed drinkable. Also, you will no longer require a canteen to drink water from a source, if you press the interact key whilst standing in water, you will slowly drink it, restoring your water but decreasing your infection meter.
Speaking of which, the regular meters are no longer visible. You will only receive prompts on your screen and visual effects to tell you what your character needs. For more hurt you again, the grayer your screen gets as in vanilla. The more infected you get, your screen will tint slightly green.
For balance sake, buildable structures may have to be removed. This will be to prevent sky bases from being built, although if they are they will have heavy nerfing.
Tanks, helicopters and planes will be removed. In my own eyes, vehicles like these would've been broken down for scrap as they are far too fuel inefficient. It also prevents sky bases that are unreachable. Also, due to an increased zombie spawn rate it's infinitely safer to travel by foot, muscle powered vehicles (Bikes/Rafts?) or by water on boats.
Zombies need to be buffed for this game mode. The mega was a great way to do this in the base game but he's only a threat if you're not geared. Every hit from a Zombie should deal more damage. About four hits to kill a player. Increase the range of detection and you've got an apex predator that's a threat in packs.
You could argue the point that this makes the game too difficult. But it's been a major problem in the Unturned community that the game is drifting away from what made it what it is, a survival game. Go onto the server list and all you see in the top rated servers are kit PVP, kit Arena. in the horrible steam discussions when new content isn't added The squeakers who play the servers ask for more guns, more tanks and shit, all this stuff is for PVP and not survival. We had horde mode which was the closest we got to the best of both worlds. This suggestion may be hard to implement, but I would argue that it gives Unturned the soul that it had in the first place. But let's make Unturned a survival game again.
Tl;Dr: A New game mode that decreases loot spawns, encourages teamwork and punishes KoS through a lack of bullets, makes zombies a real threat, nerfs sky bases almost redundant and makes the game survival again.
