Winter classes

Has anyone here ever taken one winter class at UNT and one winter class at a community college at the same time? I've asked my advisor several times, and she told me that I can't take two winter classes, regardless of which school(s) I enroll in. But of course I could register for one at UNT and one at my community college. I'm just wondering if they really won't let me transfer the credits I earn from the community college to UNT.
