Art and artistic merit can be hard to define, but I don't subscribe to the idea that something is art simply because someone created it. I believe it has to be observed and appreciated as art in order to be considered art.
I would go one step further and say art only needs to be appreciated by the observe to be considered art. This creates at least equal merit between AI and human art.
AI can create images, videos, and sounds that no human could have ever thought of. That is practically the definition of raw creativity.
I'm not trying to suggest we replace artists with AI. I'm saying you can look at any piece of AI art and enjoy it's value as art just as much as a human's, if not more.
