I absolutely can’t stand seeing people add bacon to EVERYTHING, but particularly brussels sprouts. They have a delicate nutty flavor and slight sweetness on their own if cooked properly, but bacon is such a strong flavor that it completely overpowers it and that’s all you can taste. And one of the best things about brussels sprouts that are baked or sauteed properly is the crispiness, but adding bacon just makes them soggy and greasy. I don’t even hate bacon, but most people just add it to things because they’re lazy and don’t know how to properly season or cook things without it.
Edit: I’m not a total monster and actually do season my vegetables. I just think brussels sprouts don’t need much more than oil, salt, pepper, and a little acidity.
