NOTE: I am not saying hate speech shouldn't be censored, that it should be allowed, etc etc etc.
My opinion is that not everything that has been recently defined as hate speech should be considered as such.
Hate speech (speech which actively promotes violence and/or discrimination towards a certain person, minority, group, etc,) should be constricted to exactly that kind of speech.
But otherwise? I don't understand why so many things are banned, censored, or otherwise removed from public viewing simply on the basis that it holds a negative view on something (or someone, some group, etc, as opposed to active promotion of discrimination or violence).
Again, I want to reiterate that I believe that hate speech should be considered seperately from free speech, but that too many things are labeled as hate speech.
Nor am I saying that much of what is censored chouldn't be censored, but that we should find something other than 'hate speech' to call it.
TL;DR: The term 'hate speech' has been watered down too much.
EDIT: Just a fan of proper semantics here to see how (un)popular this opinion is.
