This strange obsession with Chinatown in every city

Post Body

Embracing different cultures is fine but I've never understood the fascination with people sampling it or enthusing over it so much. Case in point, whenever you go on TripAdvisor to research a city that you might be visiting, people wax lyrical about how you 'must' go to the China Town part - why? Surely once I've been to China Town in one city, I've been to all China Towns?

And also if I've flown to San Francisco or London or Berlin or Vancouver, would I not want to experience that unique indigenous culture rather than a place that seems to exist in virtually every single city around the world?

And let's be honest, China Town in London is never really that sexy. It's dirty, it smells, there's rubbish everywhere, it's crowded, there is food hanging up in windows that doesn't look sanitary and the choice of restaurants is so bewilderingly confusing that your chances of landing a decent restaurant is pure pot luck
