For those of you that don't know. Hi-5 Studios is a Company on YouTube that created channels like dope or nope, team Edge, and battle universe, along with a couple other ones. This company was founded by Matthias, his brother j-fred, and his brother-in-law Bryan. At first, Matthias was pretty funny when team Edge first started along with battle universe. Then after a while when he settled into his more corporate role as the CEO of Hi-5 Studios, he changed. I do understand that he got older and has a family and that changes people. However I get the sneaking suspicion that Fame got to his head. A lot more of battle Universe videos and dope or nope feel like there is less effort. Battle universe suffered from this low effort content so much that they had to cancel the channel. Unfortunately the new cast couldn't save the sinking ship ever since the old crew was slowly swapped out. The writing was messy and you felt like all the video ideas were last-minute considering the production value and budget was cut back. Getting back on the subject of Matthias, if you've seen in a lot of his dope or nope videos. The majority of items he dubs "nope" are because he can't figure it out or didn't even read the instructions. For example he reviewed a well made crossbow and rated it a nope because you couldn't figure out how to load it. It just feels like in a lot of his videos he just doesn't care that much and wants to run the company instead. Furthermore, the guy acts like he's clever but he's not. For example, his video on unus Annus, he dedicates a whole video about it just because they talked about dope or nope for just a couple minutes and Matthias portrays the video as satire in the format of The Office. Which did not work at all because the comedy didn't really land for me and it felt like they were trying way too hard to be funny. In extension to that, Tanner just isn't funny. He feels like he is one of Matthais' minions eager to entertain him. Whenever Matthais makes a joke it feels like he's expecting everyone else to laugh just because he's their boss. Hi-5 Studios has become too much of a company with employees than a Channel with friends. I guess that's where I started to feel the disconnect on Battle universe and dope or nope. All the members of the company feel like paid actors that are waiting for the camera to turn off and be done shooting for the day. While in team Edge, everyone looks like that they are genuinely having a good time and are friends rather than employees. I feel like the only channel that is a part of Hi-5 Studios that is still good is team Edge because the production value is substantially more than all the other channels. What's happened to you Matthias? Also why is no one ever talking about this?
