For some odd reason I see all these posts over Instagram and tumblr about how great a revolution is going to be, how Gen Z is not afraid and will overthrow the government, and just people fantasizing what it would be like to be a part of a revolution.
Let me be clear, I really think we need a revolution, and I stand with whatever is happening right now. But this is not the time to self insert into your favourite young-adult dystopian novel. You're not Katniss Everdeen. Revolution comes with a price, and people pay with blood sweat and tears. If history has taught us anything, it's that with every revolution comes sacrifice and suffering.
Romanticizing this is not only distorting the severity of the situation, but is also disrespect to all the people who have suffered and will suffer in the future.
In this day and age, where there's so much cool & fun shit available for free on the internet, tv, video games etc, no ones gonna bother starting or participating in a revolution unless it's romanticized
we really need as fucking revolution in America and we need young people to want to be involved, and if that's ever gonna happen it's gonna have to excite them
