Of course there are issues that face women but it seems like society has a lot more sympathy and resources for women such as battered women shelters, homeless shelters that exclude men and a very well funded campaign to help fight breast cancer. What nobody seems to talk about or even care about is that there do exist some issues that largely impact men greater than women such as homelessness, child custody and suicide. Last year there was a documentary on a former female porn star who is now homeless in one of the underground communities in Las Vegas and I remember thinking why are we not shining the light on all of the male veterans who are now homeless? Of course since she is a woman we have all kinds of sympathy for her.
Men get screwed over all the time in family court when it comes to custody of their children and in addition to not being able to see their kids they will be drained financially to the point they end up homeless. (This actually happened to Mick Mars the guitarist of Motley Crue before they hit it big). It has been documented that not being able to see their children and being ruined financially can lead to suicide. The suicide thing is really troubling, we are losing a lot of men to this on a daily basis. In my personal experience within the last year these issues men face or more significantly the fact that they are male issues will be met with indifference and even scorn if you bring them up in a discussion. There still seems to be a belief that men have all kinds of advantages in life and that male issues don't even exist.
If you look at commercials, tv and movies you can feel the hostility towards men. Men are constantly portrayed as bumbling idiots who need to be saved by women who are portrayed as always competent and in control of all situations. It has become perfectly okay for women to make fun of men out in the open and if someone like Amy Schumer does this in a stand up routine she gets cheered. I bring this up because I feel like this attitude contributes to the dehumanizing of men. One last thing I will add is that I would encourage everyone to Google domestic violence against men by women. I'm not in any way trying to minimize the domestic violence faced by women at the hands of men but I am pointing out that men are victimized far more often than people realized and literally have nowhere to go for support or help.
