In modern texting culture, the exclamation mark has become the new tool for cordial "body language."
Post Body

You text me that you're on your way to meet up with me.

Exhibit A: I respond with "ok." Kiiiinda seems like I could be pissed off that you happen to be 15 minutes late

Exhibit B: I respond with "ok!" It reads like, "No worries! I'm excited to see you, regardless of when you get here."

This happens in multiple scenarios.

A major thing that you avoid with an exclamation mark is apparent sarcasm. The difference between "great" and "great!" Is gigantic.

I post this here because I've spoken to a lot of people about this that just disagree with me.
