If you ask any guy what he looks for in a mate you'll likely get two responses.

1. I don't know
2. Some version of "she's gotta be cool and cute".

That's about it. That's a man's "list". Cool and cute. But let's take a look at what that means.

1. Cool = How does she make me feel?

That means: Does she respect me in words and actions? Do we like like the same sort of things? Is she going to be emotionally overbearing? Will she leave me be when I'm not "on"? Is she open minded sexually?

1. Cute = Am I sexually attracted to her?

This one is simple while being complex. There is a narrative that men only like one specific sort of woman and that isn't true. This is evidenced by the fact that there are so many different kinds pf women in media considered "hot".

There's BBW lovers, chubby chasers, petite, athletic, curvy, slim thick, slim, thin, etc. You get the point. The opposite for men is usually tall, fit and a strong jaw. Not much room for variation.

Even when the average man has a "type" there is often room for variation and flexibility. For example, a man that likes blonde women isn't gonna turn down a brunette that he thinks is hot. If a man likes athletic women he likely won't turn down the thick girl that looks good.

That said, the men that are super uptight about this are outliers.

It's also important to note that most men like different kinds of women also. The average man might like short thick women while finding taller athletic women hot as well. I've found that this confuses some women.. I'd wager it's because when some women have a type, they'll be hard pressed to stray from it even if that type evolves over time.
