I feel like Netflix original content is ruining our standards of quality. On the whole, they consistently pump out modern looking shows and movies that are embraced by the masses because of the stylistic visuals and hamfisted socio-political messages. As far as writing and originality are concerned, I'm constantly let down. What's worse, is everyone around me seems to approve of the sub-par bs and I'm left feeling like I'm going crazy.
The usual criticisms that I receive for saying this stuff is that my standards are too high, I'm getting old, "relax," yadda yadda yadda. I'm just so tired of it.
Also, don't tell me things like, "bro just stop using Netflix," because water cooler talk has been completely hijacked by Netflix content and asking me to do that would basically be asking me to completely disconnect from society.
I want to make it clear that I am not inherently against the format of Netflix *cough* shteven shpielberg *cough*. I'm just extremely opposed to the quality of content I have seen thus far and I'm fearful of the road I see us going down in terms of film and television writing.
Update: It continues to amaze me how much people forget the name of this Subreddit and the purpose of this kind of post.
